  1. Keep trying, think about that magic day… I’m having the same problems at the moment but I’m really trying too…

  2. I have to say, I was very surprised to find this blog. I’ve spent at least half of my life thinking that nobody else on the face of this Earth had the struggles I do, and only recently did I find out that hair pulling not only is a known condition, but other people do it. I have no idea when I started, but I’m now 22 and can’t remember a time when I didn’t have patches of hair on my face missing.

I’m having a pulling episode that has lasted days now. Half the eyelashes on my right eye now are completely missing. In all these years, I don’t think I’ve ever done it this badly, and the amazing thing is despite how stupid I must look (it’s starting to swell because of the irritation), I can’t stop.

The few times I allow my beard to grow in, it never makes it much beyond the stubble stage before there are bleeding patches on my face. You posted a picture on this blog that looks very much like it. I’ve had to leave work with a bandage over my face to find a razor and shave in the bathroom and hope nobody noticed. People still notice that I have bald spots on my face, and I find myself making up ridiculous explanations as to why. My mother now believes that an electric razor can get hot enough to burn hair right out of the roots…

I don’t know much about how many other people out there do this — I certainly have never met anyone else — nor do I know how in the world to stop, but I just wanted to post a bit of my story and express my appreciation that you’ve started a blog about this. If it’s been nearly as painful for anyone else as it has been for me, I’m sure you’ve helped a lot of people by writing about it.
